Daily Routines

The School Day

This term, school starts for Orange, Amber and Daffodil at 8.45 am and finishes at 3.15 pm.

Arriving at school

Please drop your child off outside their class' hut. A member of the Year 1 and 2 team will be there to greet you as you come in the morning.

Phonics

After the register, children get busy straight away. They will move into their Phonics group, this is a great way for children to be supported specifically at their individual reading level.

English

After practicing their sounds and reflecting on blending words children are ready to start their writing. Every day children will put their knowledge into practice when writing ambitious sentences.

Daily Snack and Playtime 10:45

In KS1 the children are given a healthy snack in the morning, at playtime. This is a piece of fruit or a vegetable (eg an apple, banana, tomato or small carrot), provided free of charge and delivered fresh to the school.

Maths

After a well deserved break and run around children are eager to get their brain working again in Maths. Children will come in from break and complete some independent Maths problems before learning a new concept with their teachers support before having a go themselves.

Lunchtime 11:55-1:00

At lunchtime, Orange, Amber and Daffodil children go into the dining hall at 11.55am so that they have time to get their school dinner or start their packed lunch before the older children arrive. Children sit across the hall next to their friends. At lunchtime, the children are looked after by lunchtime staff and our OPAL play leaders. The lunchtime staff can help cut up food if necessary but children are expected to use a knife and fork, and to eat sensibly and quietly. When the children have finished their lunch they go outside to play. (All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for free school lunches).

Curriculum

In the afternoon the children are given opportunities to explore the wider curriculum of school. Each day we look at a different subject (History, Science, Geography, RE, Music, PSHE, Art, DT).

Home time 3:15

At the end of the day, please collect your child from outside their classroom hut. A member of the Year 1 and 2 team will bring see your children out and share any messages with you. Please let the School Office know if you need to make changes to your regular pick up arrangement.
