Rachel Fierro, school counselor
Hello, my name is Mrs. Fierro. I am excited to be part of the Zach family as your school counselor. I love working with our Zach students and families!
The Zach school counseling program supports students' academic and social emotional development through the following activities:
Classroom lessons in all grade levels focused on Social Emotional Learning skills.
At Zach, we utilize the following Social and Emotional Learning Curriculums. Please explore these links and see the monthly SEL newsletter for our learning topics. Each of these is an evidence-based program, grounded in research and principles of child development, and each has been evaluated and shown to produce positive student outcomes.
Small group lessons to support social emotional and behavioral skills. Groups include support for stress management, executive functioning skills, friendship skills, resiliency and self esteem, social skills, emotional regulation, positive problem solving, and impulse control.
Individual, short term, solution focused counseling to address academic, behavioral, or social emotional needs.
Consultation with families and staff.
Assistance with connecting families with community resources.
Program support and coordination for: 504 plans, McKinney Vento Homeless Education Services, Positive Behavior Intervention & Support, and school-wide SEL programming.
I have loved being an educator for many years. This is my 11th year as a school counselor and my 22nd year as an educator. I have served as a science and STEM teacher and an instructional coach for new teachers prior to being a school counselor. Outside of school I love spending time with my family and friends, camping, paddleboarding, cooking, playing games, and attending my kids' sports events & activities.
Please reach out anytime, I look forward to connecting with you! I am here to support all students and families.
