4th Grade Media/Technology
Golden Keyboard Contest
Starting in October, each class will compete against one another in a keyboarding battle every month. The "Battle" is a 2-minute keyboarding test that the students get to take 3 times. The student's highest WPM score with 90% or more accuracy counts for the contest. The class with the highest average score wins the battle, and gets to keep the golden keyboard in their classroom. The class that wins the Championship round gets their name on the Golden Keyboard and Klondike Bars.

Accelerated Reader Challenge
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that tracks your independent reading. When you finish a book, you take a comprehension quiz on the computer to show your understanding of the book. Every student has an AR goal for each quarter of the school year. Part of the Media/Technology requirements are that you at least meet your AR goal, and hopefully double it, triple it, or more! You will receive points for doing this. One great feature of AR is that it tracks the number of words your class has read. You can see your class's word total for this quarter on the graph . Parents, click here to see your student's progress. You can sign in to Clever with their PSD email address and password.
Wanna try my Scratch mini-project? Click the Computer Lab Crystal Ball after you get back from the library...
This was made with Scratch, an online coding platform similar to what you do on Code.org, but with lots more options. To create a Scratch account, click this link, create a username, a strong password, and submit your email address. Make sure to have Chrome save your password. Once in Scratch, check out some of the featured projects and click the purple See inside button to see how the code works. Click the Ideas tab on top to find tutorials on how to get started.
