Golden Keyboard Contest
Starting in October, each class will compete against one another in a keyboarding battle every month. The "Battle" is a 2-minute keyboarding test that the students get to take 3 times. The student's highest WPM score with 90% or more accuracy counts for the contest. The class with the highest average score wins the battle, and gets to keep the golden keyboard in their classroom. The class that wins the Championship round gets their name on the Golden Keyboard and Klondike Bars.

Battle 3: December 11-15, Winner: Iverson
Battle 4: February 5-9, Winner: Iverson

Accelerated Reader Challenge
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program that tracks your independent reading. When you finish a book, you take a comprehension quiz on the computer to show your understanding of the book. Every student has an AR goal for each quarter of the school year. Part of the Media/Technology requirements are that you at least meet your AR goal, and hopefully double it, triple it, or more! You will receive points for doing this. One great feature of AR is that it tracks the number of words you read. You can see this for this quarter on the graph. Parents, click here to see your student's progress. You can sign in to Clever with their PSD Email address and password.

Keyboarding: Practice until 12:50. Take Battle #5 if you haven't.

Point Sheet: Complete green assignments. New assignment: My 2nd Grade Keyboarding Scores (Google Sheet). Watch the video to see how to make your chart cool like the one to the left. Pick a white assignment if you're finished with the green ones.
Day 25 (3/18-3/21)
Got your AR Goal last quarter? Have a free choice day! Choices include building with Keeva planks, trying to set the Ping Pong volley record, or playing on your computer. If you are in Merrill's class and doubled (or more) your goal, you get a treat, too. (You won the Challenge for 3rd quarter. Congrats!)
Keyboarding: Practice/Shoutouts/Gummy Bears/Badges until 12:50. Take Battle #5 if you haven't.
Library: Get a book in your AR level. Check your AR page for recommendations of books. Use Insignia to help you find a book. Be back to the lab by 1:00.
Point Sheet: Complete green assignments. New assignment: My 2nd Grade Keyboarding Scores (Google Sheet). Pick a white assignment if you're finished with the green ones.
