5th Grade students visit the library once a week for 50 minutes.  Story time (yes, we still do a read aloud story with 5th graders) and accompanying lessons support and enhance classroom units from English Language Arts to Social Studies and Science.  All lessons align with grade level Colorado Academic Standards and American Association of School Librarian national standards.

Our Media Center is a place for students to think, create, grow and share.

Some key learning areas for 5th grade students this year are:

• Understanding multimedia texts (both fiction and informational)

• Reference sources

• Dewey Decimal System and nonfiction call numbers

• Major book awards (Caldecott, Newbery, Pura Belpre, Coretta Scott King)

• Library catalog searching
