2nd Grade students visit the library once a week for 50 minutes.  Story time and accompanying lessons support and enhance classroom units from English Language Arts to Social Studies and Science.  All lessons align with grade level Colorado Academic Standards and American Association of School Librarian national standards.

Our Media Center is a place for students to think, create, grow and share.

Some key learning areas for 2nd grade students this year are:

• Review of library rules and checkout procedures

• Review of book basics and introduction to publisher and copyright

• Understanding multimedia texts (both fiction and informational)

• Biographies and autobiographies

• Major book awards (Caldecott, Newbery, Pura Belpre, Coretta Scott King)

• Introduction to our library catalog and how to use it
