8th Grade U.S History
Since I was an adolescent, I have relished the exploring, community, and relationships that are developed in school. Lives can be changed in the classroom, and my life was positively changed because of invaluable schools and teachers. I want to positively change my students' lives as well. I believe I can do that because of my education, experience, and desire to improve the local community. During my education, I learned that a strong foundation in literacy with a consistent, purposeful effort will lead to a variety of positive outcomes, in and out the classroom. With my diligent effort and literacy skills, I received a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in history, a paralegal certificate, and many accolades from schools and teachers.
My experiences have garnered a teaching philosophy: build a foundation on literacy, model success, and create a community that accepts all and gives all students a voice. Accepted research implores the importance of each of my teaching philosophy elements. I have worked with the local community to practice my teaching philosophy.
This class is an 8th grade required course in which we will explore American History beginning with colonization and ending with Post-Civil War Reconstruction. The class will meet every day and Preston 8th graders will see it in their schedule during fall semester OR spring semester.
