What We Do
Opportunities Unlimited re-engages students who are off-track in their education, enabling youth ages 17 -20 to work toward high school completion as well as college credit.
OU students are able to work towards their diploma (if the student has 30 credits or less to earn) or GED while concurrently enrolled in Front Range Community College courses.
Re-engaging students who are off track for graduation so that they may complete high school and pursue their desired profession.
Who We Serve
Students who are currently not attending high school
Students that are at risk of not completing the graduation requirements of 240 credits
Community members looking to earn their GED
"OU has helped me get my motivation back and I’m so excited to attend Front Range and start my future. OU not only helps you prepare for college but also helps you become who you want to be.”
-Cohort 6 Student
Students in their first semester of Opportunities Unlimited attend classes Monday - Friday with a cohort of 15-20 students. Classes run from 10:30am - 4:00pm Monday - Thursday and 10:30am - 2:30pm on Fridays.
Semesters 2 & 3:
Students who choose to continue with the OU program after their first semester have the opportunity to enroll in college courses through Front Range Community College. Tuition for FRCC courses is covered by our program as long as the student receives a C or higher in each FRCC class.
Students attending FRCC classes are required to attend OU's College Support classes and HiSet Prep Classes.
The HiSET stands for High School Equivalency Test. In the HiSET preparation class, students will receive preparation tests, materials, and support to get them to a level of passing. HiSET is nationally recognized by both employees and colleges as a high school equivalency degree.
Career Skills Class:
The Individual Career and Academic Plan will assess interests and talents and match these results with career clusters, and concurrent offerings available at FRCC. This class will also take students out on industry tours and teach job skills such as resume writing, interviewing, FAFSA, and job/ internship applications.
Math, English and Science Support Classes:
Students work with teachers to prepare for the Accuplacer (FRCC entrance exams) and HiSET tests. The teacher presents hands -on activities and lessons to help students practice his/her skills with extra time to provide one -on -one support.
The school counselor teaches a support class to help enhance the community and culture between OU students and staff.
OU students volunteer with agencies in Fort Collins to introduce and build altruism while creating positive connections within the community.
College Support Class:
This class allows students to work on FRCC coursework in a supportive environment. OU staff provide academic support and foster skills for college and workplace readiness.
