Want to get outdoors next fall?

Do you love activities that go beyond the gym?

Interested students must apply and be excepted to sign up for the class AND must have a driver's license

Adventure Education offers activities geared to enhance self-confidence, social awareness, problem solving and leadership potential. There are limited spots in this class and only students who meet ALL of the requirements and complete all of the application process will be accepted. 

For the application students must provide the following:

• A typed summary

  • 1 page typed essay describing you (your experience in the outdoors, your leadership, integrity, teamwork, and why you would like to take this class)

• 2 (TWO) recommendations from faculty in our FCHS building- see below

• A copy of your transcript (ask the front office for help accessing this)

• Pay the class fee- due at the beginning of NEXT semester (in the fall!)

Student’s also need to meet the following requirements:

• Junior or senior in the fall

• Can transport themselves to off campus activities

• Possess a desire to work through team building and group ]activities

• Have an excitement to learn and try outdoor/adventure activities 

The activities may include: team-building and challenge activities, low and high ropes course elements, indoor rock climbing, safety and first aid, mountain biking, road biking, fly fishing, archery, Ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, hiking, scuba diving, snowshoeing, orienteering, peer teaching, tent building, ice skating, bike polo and geocaching.

This class will meet both on and off campus and will require your own transportation to and from off campus activities. We will have class lessons as well as practice activities off campus.

*Application fee: there is an application fee to cover equipment, instruction and facility use off campus. This is due at the beginning of next year once you have been accepted into the class. 

*Place all application materials in a manila folder or sealed envelope with your name on it and labeled Adventure Education and turn in to Mrs. Loretz Benson (in my mailbox in the front office )
