2024 District Tee Time Schedules for INDIVIDUAL (18-holes) & TEAM (9-holes)...Scroll to bottom of this page.
The District Championship tournament is a 9 hole event with an 18 hole option for those individuals who have qualified, AND wish to compete for the individual medalist. A player needs to shoot a 55 at some time during the season to opt in for the 18 holes of golf.
Individual Medalist: Double-shotgun, Tee off early at 8:00am and play 18 holes for the individual medalists title. (for clarification purposes: 18-hole players will NOT end up playing 27 holes).
Team Championship: Top 5 Players: Tee off around 10:45 and play 9 holes for the team championship title. The team title will be determined by the top 4 or 5 scores on 9 holes.
District Championship Tournament:
Each school may enter 5 golfers of each gender into the district championship tournament.
9 Holes: All golfers will play 9 holes. Example: (All girls play front 9; all boys play back 9)
Qualifying Scores/18 Holes-Individual Medalist: Individuals with qualifying scores from regular season matches (girls 55 or lower; boys 45 or lower) may opt to play 18 holes and compete for the individual medalist. Individuals who do not possess a qualifying score will play 9 holes.
Team championship: will be determined by scoring the best 4 of 5 (9 hole) scores for each team. If a team enters only 4 golfers, all 4 scores will be counted when determining team standings. Teams with 3 or fewer golfers will not be eligible for team titles. Scores from 18 hole competitors from the “opposite 9” may not be used in determining the team title. All scores for the team title will come from the “common 9” dictated to each gender for that particular year.
Example of a Top 5 Player Scenario: Sally shot 55 or better independently during the season and qualifies to play 18-holes. Sally opts to play 18-holes to compete for the individual medal. Sally's tee-time is at 8am and she plays her first 9-holes of the tournament. Then, at 10:45am Sally plays her second 9-holes which will count towards the team title. Another player, Jill shot 55 or better independently during the season and qualifies to play 18-holes. Jill has never played or walked 18-holes and opts to not play 18-holes to compete for the individual medal, however wants to play 9-holes to battle for the team title. The other 3 players have not shot a 55 or better (yet) and qualify to play 9-holes at 10:45 to battle for the team title.
Another Example of a team's top 5 players scenario: 3 players show up around 7:00am to warm up for the first 9 holes. Then, the other 2 players should show up around 10:00 am to get warmed up for the second nine. NO ONE PLAYS 27 HOLES!!
All 18 holes for individual medal (top 10).
Team title is determined by the second 9 holes. Bring 5, score 4.
If the number of teams (district-wide) with 4 or more golfers is less than 6, only 3 scores will be used to decide the team championship. While this applies to both girls and boys, it will be applied independently to each gender, on a year to year basis.
RULES - same rules we've used all season:
Triple Bogey max (par 3, plus 3 = MAX 6 strokes; par 4, plus 3 = MAX 7 strokes; par 5, plus 3 = MAX 8 stokes)
HAZARD/PENALTY: Count OB (out of bounds) and LB (lost balls) as a hazard.
EARBUDS: Players should NOT use earbuds while playing in golf matches or tournaments (high school golf follow these rules per CHSAA guidelines).
Spectators - Family & Friends of Players: Make sure that the families of your players understand they should NOT have any contact with their player during the round. There should not be a player chatting with any adult other than their coach or the volunteer for that group.
-Stay back 20-30 yards off to the side where the cart path is or would be.
-NEVER end up standing by them or walking with them during the round.
-Think about how a basketball player doesn't have a parent right there on the court consoling them after a missed free throw and showing them that they need to get more arch in their shot! Nor would parents be out on a football field getting them their drinks or snacks while playing.
-A warning will be given and then disqualification could happen after that. This is the worst part of the tournament, but it's a lot easier if we prep our families ahead of time. Spectator Guidelines - Please read
-Spectators are allowed to rent carts if they'd like.

The main difference during the district tournament and the season matches is that we won't move anyone up on a hole to start. Every player must tee off from the correct tee box (white for boys and red for girls). Each player must pick up their ball when they reach triple bogey to keep up our pace of play.
Tournament Monitors: During the District Championship Tournaments, PSD will secure an adult to walk with the top groups during play to help monitor scoring, rule applications and spectator conduct.
Backup Score Volunteers: There will be one Backup Score Volunteer per golf group. Backup score volunteers will be encouraged to introduce themselves at the beginning of the round. They will write down the names of the players in their group. We'll ask them to do their best to use tally marks on their scorecard for each player's score. However, the players are primarily responsible for the scores as they have been during the matches this season. The volunteer can step in and help if there happens to be a scoring dispute. Backup Score Volunteers can help with things like what to do if a player hits out of bounds or into a hazard, unplayable lie options, free relief from cart paths, etc. These volunteers should NOT be the parent of one of the players in that group. click link for Backup Scorer Volunteer-walker
If a volunteer must have a cart (ie. medically incapable of walking for that long), let the coach know as soon as possible. Coaches can get a cart for a volunteer and the cart rental fee will be charged to PSD.
Awards - the District Championship will consist of a traveling trophy for the championship team (boys and girls), team medals for each participant (maximum of 5) on the first and second place teams (boys and girls), and individual medals for top 10 golfers (boys and girls) qualifying for, and competing in the 18 hole competition. The traveling trophy will be presented to the championship team to be housed at their school for the next year.
League Champion: The league champion will be declared in each division based on the team finish at the District Championship.
Individual Tiebreaker: In the event of a tie for places 2nd through 10th, the tie will be broken with a scorecard tiebreaker using the following criteria: 1. Back 9 score 2. Front 9 score 3. Score from handicap hole 1, 2, 3 etc. Ties for 1st place will be broken with a hole-by-hole playoff (decided by course officials and tournament director) until a winner is declared.
Team Tiebreaker: All team ties will be broken with a scorecard tiebreaker, beginning with the most difficult hole (as posted on the scorecard). The top 4 scores from team A will be compared to the top 4 scores from team B on the most difficult hole. If the two teams remain tied, scores will be compared from the next most difficult hole until a winner is declared. The top 4 scores may come from any of the 5 competing golfers in the tournament, which may include a different compilation of scores from hole to hole.
2024 District tournament at Collindale on Tuesday, May 7th (makeup date is Friday, May 10th)
Scott Morris and Brand Carlucci are the tournament directors. They will be handing out multiple copies of a "spectator sheet" for coaches to pass out that will remind all parents/guardians/grandparents etc. that they need to NOT have any contact during the round with their child. They should be about 30 feet behind the groups where the cart path is/should be.
Players that are only playing in the 18-hole event should arrive an hour early, 7:00am. Meet me at the driving range and I will have buckets of balls for you to get warmed up.
Meeting at 7:45am. to explain the rules of the day (nothing new, but we will have a few drop zones). Once the meeting is over, coaches will shuttle players to their starting holes.
Golfers should exchange cards and then get started. Boys who finish hole #9 go to #1 and the girls that finish #18 should go to #10.
The groups will be done between 10:00 and 10:15.
The players will be monitored during the round and brought back to the clubhouse once they finish their first 9 holes. Players should verify scores and turn them into Scott Morris and/or Brandon Carlucci. Players should take this time to get a quick bite to eat/use the restroom.
(Be there at 10:00am)

Schedule of Events (printing in blue are schedule updates):
All tournament players be prepared for the morning temp to be in the high 30s! Hopefully, we won't run into a frost delay! It's Colorado Spring, so be ready for any weather.

Coaches can use their cart to help get the players out to their holes. No more than 2 players on a cart (ie..no riding on the back).
8:00 SHOTGUN starts for individuals playing all 18 holes. A shotgun is a concept in which all the players in a tournament begin playing at the same time, but from a different place on the course.
Boys will play the front 9 and the girls will play the back. So, one group of boys might start on hole #4. Once they finish #9, they should go and play hole #1 and then come back to the clubhouse after hole #3.
A group of girls might start on hole #17. After playing #18, they should go to #10 and play through #16.
Hopefully, these players get some time to eat a snack/use the bathroom/etc. before playing their second 9 holes. There may not be much time between the first 9-holes and second 9-holes. 18-hole players need to be ready; make sure to bring drinks, snacks, layers of clothing etc.. so you can make a quick switch to play the second 9-holes.
10:00am Players who are only playing 9 holes should arrive and start warming up.

1:15 End Time - hopeful/optimistic end time with awards starting at some point before or hopefully by 2:00.

The boys who finish #18 should go to #10 and the girls should go to #1 after finishing #9. Players will be shuttled back to the clubhouse once their round is over.
If all goes well, players should be finishing up between 1:15/1:30. Tournament managers will need some time to calculate scores so plan on the final results being announced at 2:00 although we'll go earlier than that if we are ready. Parents that want to come for the awards should arrive by 1:30.
