Be on time. Students will have 2 minutes at the start of class to assemble their instruments & equipment.
Sit with proper posture and playing position. Stay in your seat.
Food/drinks/gum are not allowed in the band room, only water is allowed.
Restroom and drinking fountains should be used before entering the band room. Students will not be allowed to leave the band room during the first 15 minutes of class.
Only percussionists are allowed to touch the percussion instruments, unless permission is given by the director.
As a musician, you are expected to practice at least 15 minutes a day. Practice helps you improve your own musical skills and allows the entire group to improve together.
Think about practicing sports, coding, math, science, or English. If you practice these subjects, you will most likely get better at them quickly. Not only that, if you are part of a team or group, your whole team and group members will improve because you took the time to practice those skills. The same is true for music.
Unless you have an instrument that lives at home, students are responsible for bringing their instruments & music to school for rehearsals, and back home after school for practice. If this instrument is placed in a locker during the school day, students must return to their locker and get their instrument & music before leaving Blevins.
