7th and 8th grade students at Blevins have the opportunity to participate in two honor band groups in Colorado: PSD Honor Band and CU Boulder Honor Band. Students interested in participating will need to prepare and submit audition materials. More information about the PSD Honor Band will be available in the Fall. 

Outstanding Musicians & Director's Award

At the end of every school year, several students from each ensemble are awarded the Outstanding Musician award. Students can earn points towards receiving this award through the following ways:

• 5 points per semester for membership in a Blevins performing arts class (band, jazz band, modern band, orchestra, choir)

• 10 points per supplemental ensemble performance

  • MSOE, Summer Music Programs

• 2 points for every outreach event attended

  • Instrument Tryout Night, Olapalooza

• 2 points per private lesson

  • Lessons must be at least 30 minutes in duration, provide dates & times

• 2 points per honor group audition

  • PSD Honor Groups, CU Boulder Honor Band

• 10 points for acceptance & performance in honor group

• 5 points per semester for having no missing assignments in band

The students with the highest amount of points will be recognized as Outstanding Musicians. Additionally, one 8th grade student is selected each for the Director's Award. This award is given to the student who goes above and beyond all others with their contributions to the Blevins band program.
