Beginning Band (6th Grade)
This entry-level course is designed for students with little to no prior experience on a band instrument. Visit the Instrument Rental & Supplies tab for instrument choices. Students will be placed in either the Woodwind & Percussion or Brass class based on their instrument choice. Focus areas include tone production, rhythm, note reading, and in a fun and supportive environment.
Concert Band (7th Grade)
Concert Band builds upon the skills learned in Beginning Band. Students will develop intermediate-level musicianship through combined ensemble rehearsals and performances. Focus areas include tone quality, dynamics, articulation, and advanced techniques.
Symphonic Band (8th Grade)
Symphonic Band is the most advanced traditional band ensemble offered. Students refine their musical skills through challenging repertoire and advanced ensemble techniques. Focus areas include tone quality, balance, phrasing, and musical expression.
Jazz Band (Advanced 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade)
Jazz Band explores a variety of styles including swing, rock, funk, and Latin. Open to all band students including those who play guitar, bass, drums, or keyboard! Students will develop skills in improvisation, rhythm, and style in a fun and creative setting.
Modern Band (8th Grade)
Modern Band focuses on popular music genres such as rock, pop, and hip-hop. Students will learn to play guitar and have opportunities to rotate through bass, keyboard, and drum set. The course encourages collaboration, songwriting, and performing as part of a modern music group.

Carson Sachtleben has been the band director at Blevins Middle School in Fort Collins, Colorado since August 2022. Carson completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating in May 2022 with a major in Music Education - Trombone and a minor in Mathematics. He is currently attending the American Band College Master's program.
Carson has performed with the CU Boulder Wind Symphony, Golden Buffalo Marching Band, and various jazz bands throughout his time at CU Boulder. Carson marched with The Battalion Drum & Bugle Corps during the 2018, 2019, 2021, & 2022 seasons, serving as both the Baritone Section Leader & Horn Sergeant.
In his free time, Carson loves to go skiing in the Winter and enjoys playing D&D with his friends.
