FAQs
Do I get a locker? How will I learn my locker combination? Will I need to share my locker?
All 6th graders get an individual locker at Blevins (no sharing). Students are given their locker number and combination on a piece of paper, and can also find the information in StudentVue.
Can 6th graders participate in sports?
Yes! Check out our sports slideshow
Can 6th graders participate in clubs and activities? What are some of my options?
Yes! Learn more about our Bruin Club here!
What does lunch look like? Are there options to sit with friends?
All 6th graders eat lunch together in the cafeteria. Students can choose to sit where they want and who they want to sit with. After 20 minutes students have the option to go outside for recreation time (aka "rec")
How much homework will I have?
6th graders can expect to have about an hour of homework each night.
How do I know where my classes are, what is the bell schedule?
All 6th grade classes are in one corner of the building, which makes finding your way around much easier! We will help you walk through your classes during the 6th grade transition day in the beginning of the school year. Here is a link to the 6th grade bell schedule on our website
What is the dress code? Can I wear a hat?
The dress code will mostly be the same as it was when you were in elementary school. That being said, we do allow hats this year! Just no hoods. If there are any changes, we will let you know.
Can I chew gum?
Some teachers will allow you to chew gum in class; but, some will not. We ask that you respect each teacher's classroom policies.
What do I do if I need help finding a class or if I can’t get my locker open?
Not to worry; we will help you! Just ask a nearby adult and they will help you, no questions asked.
What do I do if I have problem with another student?
Blevins has three experienced counselors to support students with any sort of conflict that may arise. You can learn more about your counselors here
