Reading Rainbows

This year students will be reading through the rainbow as they continue to develop a sight word reading vocabulary! A new word list (6 in total) will be sent home at the beginning of the month and students are asked to practice their words at home until they can read all 35-40 words fluently! We are looking for students to be able to read each word confidently with little-to-no pausing. By the end of the school year, students will have learned more than 200 words as sight words that they can automatically recognize in print without having to use any reading strategies to decode. When students feel confident in their reading, they can read their sight word lists to me and colour in the corresponding section of the rainbow on their sight word reading page!
