Evaluations and Placements
This is a cut sport and the amount of players trying out can also impact the amount of teams we are able to have.
Placements are based on teams positional needs, skill level of player & tactical understanding level of players who are also trying out for specific positions and playtime consideration. For example: Varsity competes in the highest level for IHSA Playoffs 3A - the teams in the conference, sectional and state playoffs are compromised of some of the top players in the state of Illinois.
Freshmen are eligible for all 3 levels
Playing time is taken into consideration for upper levels (JV & Varsity)
Sophomores:
CAN be placed on “Frosh” (Freshmen & Sophomores)
Eligible for JV & Varsity
Juniors
Are ONLY eligible for for JV & Varsity
Seniors are ONLY eligible for Varsity
However, in certain situations a Senior(s) could be on JV
Not all Seniors will make the Varsity team
There is a 24 hour NO CONTACT period once evaluations have been completed. THE PLAYER can email Coach Katie Monterosso to set up a more detailed evaluation. Email (kmontero@psd202.org). Coach Katie and one of our other coaches will be present in this evaluation.
COMMITMENT LEVEL - SPRING BREAK - Non - High School Involvement
It is an expectation that you are committed to being here. You cannot play another PNHS Spring Sport. If you will be participating in an activity (Band, Choir) then we will need to discuss your schedule with soccer and the activity.
Generally you will have something going on 5 - 6 days a week. 2 - 3 games PER WEEK.
ALL Levels have AT LEAST 2 Games over Spring Break and 1 - 2 practices.
You must be done with all NON HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER (club, ODP, Youth National Team) by Sunday March 9th. If you compete in anything non high school related you will forfeit your year of play.
Email Coach Katie Monterosso for any other specific questions regarding non high school involvement. kmontero@psd202.org
