Video Conferencing
Video Conferencing can be a powerful medium to help maintain classroom communities and provide learning opportunities. As educators explore this medium, the district provides these common expectations.
Basic Video Conferencing Guidelines
Review PSB guidance about how to set up and secure the video conferencing for the tool.
Clearly highlight behavioral expectations for students as you begin each session.
Video conferences should always be optional. Important information needs to be shared in additional formats.
Remind student participants (and family members) that they are PROHIBITED from saving, recording, sharing, or posting any part of the session. Taking and/or posting of screenshots, photos, videos, or audio recordings of the session are NOT ALLOWED.
Google Meet is an easy to use conferencing tool. It's part of our G Suite for Education tool set and the recommended conferencing tool for use with students.
Teachers who want to view a gallery of all participants may find the Google Meet Grid View Extension helpful.
Brookline Public Schools has obtained a Student Data Privacy agreement with Zoom which now provides additional legal and security protections. Teachers who have registered for Zoom with their @psbma.org Gmail will be part of Brookline's agreement.
