October 7, 2025: Students begin testing the Giffords Mill stream for 5 basic water tests: pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, nitrogen, and phosphorus.
September 23 & 24, 2025:
Barrens to Bay students & CP Environmental Science students trim & clean up the path trails around the Pinelands Bogs and clean out garbage & debris in the Giffords Mill stream!
October 23 & 30, 2024:
Barrens to Bay students & CP Environmental Science students trim and clean up the path trails, begin clearing a new path, and perform water tests in various locations around the Pinelands Bogs!
October 2-8, 2024:
Barrens to Bay students trim and clean up the path trails and the stream around the Pinelands Bogs!
April 27, 2024: Barnegat Bay Blitz Bog Clean-up sponsored by the Barnegat Bay Partnership and the Pinelands Education Association allowed students, staff, parents, and members of the community to come together and clean debris from the Giffords Mill Branch Bogs. Roughly 1,000 lbs of garbage was removed from the ecosystem!
April 10, 2024: Students began spring cleaning of the BOGS paths by trimming and raking trails and removing thorns and invasive plants.
January 11, 2024: Students removed the thorns and small trees and shrubs around the red maple vacuum tap lines in Bog 1 and along the east and west side of Berm1 for traditional bucket taps.
October 5, 2023: Students continued to trim and clean up the path trails around the Pinelands Bogs as well as climb into the stream to remove debris and garbage.
September 20-21, 2023:
New Barrens to Bay students trim and clean up the path trails around the Pinelands Bogs!
April 22, 2023: Barnegat Bay Blitz Bog Clean-up sponsored by the Barnegat Bay Partnership and the Pinelands Education Association allowed students, staff, parents, and members of the community to come together and clean debris from the Giffords Mill Branch Bogs. April 17-19, 2023:
Spring pruning & raking of the paths and water access points continued around the bogs and culverts.
April 4 & 5, 2023
Students trimmed brush, removed thorns, and raked the paths around the bogs as well as relocated some piles of trimmings from the fall.
October 26-28, 2022:
Extensive work on trimming and raking paths as well as clearing side paths off of the main berm paths to access waterfront for future discovery and work.
Students entered the stream at Berm 1 to clear debris and garbage that was limiting flow at the site of the missing bridge. Students entered the stream at Berm 2 to remove garbage and debris from the stream bed. Students also cleared site lines at the West Bridge where the Giffords Mill Branch enters school property. Students again entered the stream to remove garbage (tires, lumber, & metal) from the stream bed.
October 18, 2022:
Miss Yurowski's Marine Science classes took samples and practiced their water testing techniques.
October 7, 2022:
Water sampling and continued trimming and pruning around paths of all bogs.

Trimming of paths around the bog and along berms to allow for easier movement from area to area throughout the property.
