Barrens to Bay is a program offered to Pinelands Regional High School students full year College Prep, Honors (dual credit with OCC), and Advanced courses. When Pinelands opened in 1979, the focus of the science department was to utilize the 45 acres worth of bogs as outdoor classroom space to provide students with the opportunity to understand the unique ecosystems of the NJ Pine Barrens that surrounds our school community. This was achieved through various Environmental Science, Field Ecology, and Senior Science Exploration courses from 1979-2010.
At student's request, Honors Ecology: From the Barrens to the Bay was introduced in the 2022-23 school year, followed by Advanced Ecology in the 2023-24 school year. CP Barrens to Bay resulted in a reworking of the CP Environmental Science curriculum for students interested in learning about our region at the College Prep level.
