There is no specific number of dancers who will be placed on Dance Company. Dancers whose score a 20+ will be considered for Dance Company. All three judges scores will be averaged to find this number. Remember, this program focuses on jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Work on the technique, skills, and creativity in each of these styles.
The outside judges are well qualified dance professionals in the area. They are looking for proper technique in the various styles, correct alignment, passionate performances, and confidence.
The judges are given a scale to assess you holistically based on your current level of dancing.

Your self-choreographed solo can be in whatever dance style you prefer. The judges are looking for your individual voice as a dancer. Be creative with your choreography and show them you can create and perform.
DO NOT do choreography you learned from a teacher or choreographer

Please keep your solo between 45 seconds to 1 minute in length.

Decide which teachers you want to evaluate you. Be sure they are academic school teachers. Do not ask religious class or leaders, coaches, studio teachers, etc.

The total dance score is out of 100 points. 30 points for each combo and 10 points for overall impression and performance.

Depending on your final score and where you are ranked along with the other applicants will determine the placement of the companies.

In your google menu, select GooglePhotos.
Click on the "Upload" button in the top right corner.
Select your video.
Send the URL after the upload.

How do I upload my video to YouTube and share the URL link?
Go to create or upload a video. (top right corner of home screen)
Select the file you want uploaded.
In the "Viewing Tab" be sure to select "Unlisted". That way, only the people who have the URL can see your video.
Submit the URL into the Text Option in Canvas for your assignment.

If you are invited into a company, you will fill out the "Acceptance Form" in order to claim your spot on the company. This form will need to be filled out by May 16.
If you are not invited onto a company, please consider taking Dance 2, Dance 1, or Dance in Pop Culture!
