Muscle Cells

Muscle cells can be organized into smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, and skeletal muscle. They are found in the body's muscles, the heart, and lining the walls of organs.

Muscle cells can lengthen and contract to create movement in the body. They are long and slender.

Muscle cells need a lot of ATP energy for all their movement, so they contain a lot of mitochondria (remember that mitochondria is where ATP is produced during cellular respiration).
