Euglena is a type of single cell organisms that have both plant and animal characteristics. There are at least 200 species of Euglena. They are a long cell that includes a nucleus, chloroplasts , an eyespot, and one or two flagella. Euglena can do photosynthesis AND eat other organisms!
Species of Euglena are found in fresh water, salt water, and moist soils.
Euglena have a tail-like flagellum that whips around so the euglena can move independently through watery environments.
