Our Mission
Hello, and we are part of the team Beyond the Battle, composed of Samarth, Sam, and Trayi, all sophomore students at Providence Day School. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 6.8% of people in the U.S. are diagnosed with trauma at some point in their lives. Moreover, the topic of mental health is often overlooked and receives little attention. This year, our mission is to raise awareness about trauma as a critical mental health issue. We aim to make a tangible impact in our community through various activities and projects. Feel free to explore this website to learn about our journey and discover how we can support you personally. And remember - mental health is health!
Risk Factors
Risk factors are conditions, behaviors, or experiences that increase the likelihood of a negative outcome. Young people with multiple risk factors have a greater likelihood of developing a condition that impacts their physical or mental health. Although there exist numerous risk factors, we have decided to focus on those that increase the likelihood of being affected by trauma.
Protective Factors
Protective factors are activities or characteristics correlated with a lower chance of negative outcomes. Even though trauma cannot be completely prevented, protective factors play a crucial role in reducing the possible impact that someone with trauma may experience, and in some cases, completely prevent any side effects.Â
