Mission Plants for Peers

A key protective factor that many of our peers identified as an effective way to prevent trauma was having something to care for. With this in mind, we decided to distribute plants to our peers, giving them an opportunity to nurture and support the plants as they grow. To share our mission, we included a note on each flowerpot with the message: "Grow alongside the plant!"

Mission Educate

In order to educate our peers on what trauma is, we decided to hang up posters around our school with protective factors and risk factors for this mental health issue. While risk factors are conditions, behaviors, or experiences that increase the likelihood of a negative outcome, protective factors are activities or characteristics correlated with a lower chance of negative outcomes.

Mission Wonderbook

We made copies of our very own children’s book titled “Beyond the Battle.” This vibrant storybook tackles important mental health themes and solutions in a fun and engaging way - perfect for young readers. Through colorful illustrations and simple, relatable language, we aim to help children understand complex emotions with kindness and curiosity! As part of Beyond the Battle, we hope to not only impact our peers, but also ensure that younger generations are aware of the value of good mental health.
