Dawn Oyedipe

During her time in Prosper, Ms. Oyedipe has worked to establish the orchestra programs at Reynolds MS, Rogers MS and Hays MS. She has taught at Hays since the opening of the school in 2019, developing the orchestra into a strong 260+ member program demonstrating musical excellence at UIL and area music festivals.

Before coming to Prosper ISD, Ms. Oyedipe served as the Director of Orchestras at Hebron High School in Lewisville ISD. Under her leadership the Hebron Orchestras consistently won Sweepstakes, Best in Class, and Overall Best Orchestra at local and nationally recognized competitions. She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. She is also a member of Texas Orchestra Directors Association and was featured as a presenter at TODA Summer Convention in San Antonio.

Ms. "O" began her professional career as a touring musician, performing regionally at festivals, schools and community concerts through Young Audiences of Dallas, Texas Commission on the Arts and other arts-in-education programs. She has performed with Dallas Millennial Choirs and Orchestra, Irving Symphony, Frisco Jazz Combo Society, Collin Jazz Combo PM, Irish band Celtic Blessing, and eclectic ensemble Tin Roof Tango/Mark Shelton Productions. She has taken the stage at the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, Summer Jazz in the Park at Addison Circle, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston. Ms. O enjoys collaborating and has made guest appearances with smooth jazz saxophonist/recording artist Tom Braxton. She is featured on the sacred CD release “Surrender” by pianist Michael Gott, and heavy metal CD “Distorted Views” by Michael Harris. She has also performed on WFAA channel 8 “Good Morning Texas”. 


Ms. Oyedipe holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas, where she studied classical violin with Philip Lewis. Her mentors also include jazz educators Pat Harbison (IU) and Sara Caswell (Berklee College of Music) and the late David N. Baker (IU). She is an alumnus of the Disney All-American College Orchestra at EPCOT Center, a unique internship where she performed with Broadway stars including Rita Moreno, Nell Carter and Marvin Hamlisch. The “Disney effect” continues to influence her teaching, as she encourages her students to strive for musical excellence, be professional, and make magic for the audience.
