Alyse Picardat is a first-year orchestra director with a passion for building strong musical foundations and fostering a love for music in young performers. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music and Human Learning degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, where she also studied double bass and arts administration. During her time at UT, Mrs. Picardat gained valuable teaching experience while serving as a faculty member for the renowned UT String Project, working with students of all ages in both studio and ensemble settings. In addition to teaching, she served in an administrative role with the Austin Youth Orchestra, where she supported the logistical and organizational needs of a thriving youth music program.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Picardat enjoys crafting, baking, and reading—all hobbies that reflect her creativity and love of learning. She believes middle school is a time for students to explore, grow, and gain confidence, and she strives to make her classroom a supportive, inspiring space for every child. Her warm, enthusiastic approach aims to shape a vibrant orchestra program in which students feel both challenged and encouraged. With a background that blends performance, education, and arts administration, Mrs. Picardat brings a comprehensive student-centered approach to her teaching and is excited to join the talented team of teachers at Hays Middle School.
