Be Prepared for your First Day of Camp!
Be prepared to help us ensure a safe, innovative, and FUN camp week:
First Day Check In - A parent will need to sign in each camper on day one. We are required to check IDs for check-in so that we can give you your pick-up placard (cartag). Please ensure a parent who is registered on the parent account is there with ID to check-in. If you need to change this or add someone please call the Camp Invention 800 number. (1-800-968-4332) Check-in for the first day will begin at 8:30. Monday drop-off will happen based on color groups, so find the color table your camper is assigned to and they will have your sign-in info. To help us with traffic we are asking that you park and walk your student to the front doors for check-in. You will need your ID to get your pick-up tag. No parents will be allowed inside the building during camp due to safety protocols.
Pick Up - A parent will need to sign in each camper on day one, after day one check-in we will run regular carline elementary style for student pick up and drop off. Bigs will go through the back carline and littles through the front (see map), if you have one of each you may choose which you want to go through. At pick-up daily you will need to have your tag displayed in the front car windshield and staff will sign out and deliver your student to the car line. If you do not have your pick-up tag you will be required to park and wait for a director and show your ID in order to pick up your student.
Drop Off – The doors will open to NON EXTENDED DAY CAMPERS at 8:50 am each day, except for Monday when they will open at 8:30 am. Know that some students will be coming early, as they have signed up for extended care (which does have an extra cost). Please see the attached carline instructions to begin Monday PM and run Tuesday through Friday AM & PM. If you will be walking your student to and from camp please plan to pick up your student outside the front door where a staff member will need to see your pickup tag.
Early Pick Up – please come to the front door with your ID or cartag. There will be a CI labeled doorbell to reach our Camp Invention team, please be patient as it does take us a minute to get there form the back of the building where camp is stationed. We do not staff the front office, so please ensure you are ringing the CI bell, not the Hughes bell.
Upcycling Materials - Send your child on a household scavenger hunt to collect clean Upcycle Items used for prototyping throughout the week. (Please don’t bring anything of personal value). See attached list of Upcycling Items.
Medication - The only medication that Camp Invention Program Team Members can administer is an EpiPen. If your student requires an EpiPen please reach out to the camp director at enbeste@prosper-isd.net, as training will need to be scheduled.
Attire – Comfort is important to a fun week at camp, so please be sure your child is dressed accordingly (no flip-flops, please). Also, please make sure your child has sunscreen on before they get to camp as we cannot administer it at camp. Weather permitting, we may do some activities outside during the course of the day. Each day will have a different theme. Please see the schedule below:
Monday - Team Color (Wear the color of your color group!)
Tuesday - Hat Day
Wednesday - Silly Sock Day
Thursday - Jersey Day
Friday - Wear your Camp Invention shirt for our group picture!
Pack a Lunch/Snack/Drink - Don’t forget to pack a lunch with a drink and snack each day. Please label these items with your child’s name. Students can bring a lunchbox or a sack, either is fine. We will have a snack time each day, so please pack a snack. We encourage students to have a water bottle with them at all times, but any other drinks will need to be saved for lunchtime. Please make sure water bottles are labeled with their names! (Lots of popular water bottles out there masquerading as one another. For health purposes please label!)
Behavior Expectations – We have the best students in the world, so I doubt we will have any issues. However, please help us in reminding students that we are guests in the building and the rooms we are using. Additionally, we want to create a positive environment for all, with a safe space to try new ideas, we expect all campers to be great citizens of camp and use positive language and safe behaviors at all times for the safety of all students. Any behavior issues that require addressing will be documented with an incident report, which will be sent home to you. If multiple behaviors occur your student may be asked not to return to camp. I don’t anticipate this to happen, but any help reminding your students of expectations is greatly appreciated.
I’m honored to get to lead this camp and looking forward to the amazing things I’m going to watch our campers create!
