Make Waves
Make Waves
In Make Waves, children catch their first big break as they ride the waves of invention and entrepreneurship! Inspired by National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductee Tom Blake—who helped make surfing more popular through his surfboard innovations—they paddle their way through salty challenges and generate ideas for a unique, innovative product. Like surfers moving from the safety of the shore to the rush of a breaking set of waves, participants take calculated risks as they use their prototype to hook investors and commercialize their product. After a dynamic dive into conducting customer research, children build a billboard boat that glides through the water and helps them “make waves” in the market!

Spsace Morphers
In Space Morphers, children launch their mission to locate and prepare a distant planet for human habitation. They search the skies for light signals to reveal their new planet and build a DIY space rocket to blast off on their adventure. Next, the Space Morphers race to collect important data, set up a Space Lab, and record their observations of a mysterious animal egg and a dazzling crystal surprise. Along the way, they design and build inventions for navigating the intense conditions of their exoplanet to transform its atmosphere, terrain, and ecosystem in hopes of creating the next Earth. Finally, they complete their ultimate mission of terraforming their exoplanet and then launch a device inspired by National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees to continue monitoring their exoplanet from back on Earth. Children stretch their imagination while extending the frontier!

Infringers
In The Infringers, children use the superpowers of the I Can Invent® Mindset to team up with the Innovation Force®—the National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees—to identify and solve challenges in their community and around the world! They collaborate to create miniaturized, top secret inventions while on the lookout for the idea-stealing Infringers! To safeguard their designs, participants construct wearable cryptography devices and develop a way to secure their sketches—outwitting the hackers from gaining access to their data. Before rolling out their inventions, they employ the superpower of protecting their Intellectual Property and then race to file a patent. Having their innovations protected, children can finally take down the idea-duplicating Infringers!
Fur-ensics
Fur-ensics
In Fur-ensics, children arrive at the Camp Invention Biopark, where they are recruited to sharpen their detective skills. They investigate a series of mischievous crimes committed by one of the animal residents! With the help of Captain E. Bara, children explore the “who” and “how” behind the animal antics within the park. They enlist the help of a fleet of robotic capybaras to collect bits of fluffy fur and feathers, identify puzzling footprints, examine suspicious splatters, and discover hidden incriminating objects. The inner mechanics of the robotic capybara inspire children to create a sleuthing gadget to support their investigation. Participants analyze evidence, conduct an interrogation, and narrow down the wily suspects. Finally, children create costumes for their capybara robot to attend the biopark’s biggest social event, the Masquerade Fur Ball, where they must locate the prankster before another faux-paw is committed!
The 5th Module for each camp is called CAMP INVENTION GAMES and is an action-packed game time in the gym or outside where creativity and movement collide!

Camp Invention, a program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF) in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, provides a unique experience for children to make discoveries about the importance of intellectual property while exploring, creating and designing. Camp promotes STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning; builds leadership, perseverance and resourcefulness; and encourages entrepreneurship — in an exciting and engaging environment.
“The core learning experience that my girls received and the inspiration to look at items innovatively, pushing the boundaries of their imagination, and bringing it to life was awe-inspiring,” said the parent of 2021 campers. “They have benefited tremendously, learning they can make a difference in creating for the world they live in.”
Each year, the program features a new curriculum inspired by some of our nation’s greatest innovators — the NIHF Inductees.
