Scholar Mentor Program

Afterschool Scholar Mentors

Will work with Mentor Leaders to learn “how to” be a good mentor/role model for middle school scholars. The responsibilities of a High School Scholar Mentor will include but are not limited to the following; valuing what others have to say, developing trust and respect, maintaining confidentiality, helping mentee to increase confidence and self esteem by listening and creating strategies, assisting with the transition into high school.

Process and Requirements:

  1. Apply to be a High School Mentor at the link below

  2. Interview with the Afterschool Action Team

  3. Pending hire- High School Mentors will be required to:

  • Complete all necessary clearances

  • Mandated reporter training

  • 5 hours of professional development which includes reviewing the guidelines and code of conduct

  • Complete a pre/post questionnaire

  • Fulfill volunteer requirements with your school's regular day scholar mentor program (if applicable)

  • Create Audio with Saturday Light Brigade Productions, Inc. documenting the scholar mentor process throughout the duration of the program

Pay: $10/hour

Mentor Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday 3:15-5:15 PM
