Using Canva, create your own movie poster using the elements & principles of design & typogrpahy.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Sign in to Canva:
If you don't already have an account, sign up or log in to Canva. They offer a free version with many design elements and templates.
2. Create a New Design:
Once you're logged in, click on "Create a design" in the upper right corner. In the search bar, type "Custom Dimensions" and enter the dimensions you want for your movie poster. Standard poster sizes are often 24x36 inches, but you can choose other dimensions if needed.
3. Choose a Template:
Canva offers various pre-designed templates. Search for a movie poster template that matches the style or theme of your movie. You can also start with a blank canvas if you prefer to design from scratch.
4. Select a Background:
Customize the background of your poster. You can choose a solid color, a gradient, an image, or even upload your own background image. Ensure that it complements your movie's theme.
5. Add Title and Text:
Click on the "Text" option on the left sidebar and add your movie title, tagline, and other relevant text. Experiment with different fonts, sizes, and colors to achieve the desired look.
6. Incorporate Images and Graphics:
Search the "Elements" tab in the left sidebar to find illustrations, icons, or images that relate to your movie. You can also upload your own images. Place them strategically on the poster.
7. Color and Typography:
Pay attention to the color scheme and typography. Ensure that they match the mood and genre of your movie. You can customize fonts and colors under the "Text" tab and the "Colors" tab on the left sidebar.
8. Layout and Composition:
Organize your elements in a visually pleasing way. Ensure there is a clear focal point and that your information is easy to read.
9. Filters and Effects:
Canva offers filters and effects that you can apply to your images and background. These can add an artistic touch to your poster.
10. Review and Save:
Take a moment to review your movie poster and make any necessary adjustments. Once you're satisfied, click on the "Download" button in the top right corner to save your poster to your computer.
11. Upload to Google Classroom:
After you download your poster - submit it to our google classroom assignment.
