I presented and performed this collaborative piece on October 5, 2025 during a Noise Salon event during Boston Fashion Week.
“Surfing the waves of mood”
My performance is about finding beauty and balance when sometimes fluctuations in our mood can seem beyond our control. I generate these intrinsic fluctuations of mood through a custom-made math model of mood (being bipolar) and output it into sound. Our mood is also influenced by our reactions. So, I will be wearing a movement sensor and ‘dancing’ which will influence the math model of mood. Finally, to represent the external world’s influence on our mood, we will have communal drumming which will influence how I dance.
One of the lessons I have learned from my discussions with Bethany Colleen Ramus is that an important step towards healing and balance is radical self acceptance. Therefore, I won’t be trying to conquer or eliminate these fluctuations in mood, instead I will be exploring balance through ‘surfing the waves of mood’. I enjoy meeting people so everyone is welcome to contact me!
