2025 VBAESP  Scholarship Application

The Virginia Beach Association of Elementary School Principals provides a one-time scholarship to a graduating senior who will be entering college immediately following their senior year. The applicant must have a parent who is an employee of VBCPS. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving senior who has demonstrated academic ability, community involvement, exemplary character, and plans to go into the field of education.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must have a parent who is an employee of VBCPS.

• The applicant must have attended Virginia Beach City Public Schools for at least two years and be graduating from a VBCPS high school. 

• The applicant should have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 at the time of submission, verified by official transcripts. 

• The applicant must provide two letters of reference. One letter must be from an academic staff member (teacher, school counselor, or administration) from the applicant’s high school. The second letter can be of the applicants choosing, with the exception of family members. 

• The applicant must prove involvement in extracurricular activities. This can include school and community affairs.

• The applicant must submit an essay containing a minimum of 300 written words on one of the following topics: 

  • Explain how you have positively impacted your school community or community at large.  

  • Describe an educator who has positively impacted your life.

Application Procedures

Application and all supporting documentation must be received by April 25, 2025.  Submit a copy of the completed application, essay, two letters of recommendation, and high school official transcripts to the address or email listed below:

The awarded recipients will be notified of their selection by May 16, 2025
