About the Project

My project is designed to provide NORWESCAP staff and families with teacher-approved “Pre-K Prep Kits”. The American Red Cross and other agencies advertise emergency preparedness go-kits to be used in emergencies or civil disasters. My idea is to bundle educational tools that can be used on-site or during home visits to equip staff and families to help children develop such skills as color, number and letter recognition and other school-readiness areas.

School Readiness Tests show that there are children from the Denville site who are transitioning from the Early Head Start program (age 3) to either Head Start or pre-school who score below the widely-held expectations in several of these areas. A larger emphasis is needed on enhancing the pre-school skills of these children.
