Description
This course will focus on post confederation decades and will utilize the 3 “P’s”, projects, presentations and papers. Each student will present a decade of Canadian history to the class, work on a group project, write several short papers or essays, read some Canadian literature, complete binder work and other smaller assignments and finish the course with a final test. As we work through this course, we plan to discuss important issues that have shaped our country as well as reflecting on God’s providence and the role of Christianity and the Bible in the formation of our nation. The goal is to gain a better understanding of Canadian history while giving homeschooled students the opportunity to participate in class discussion, presentations and group projects, all of which are difficult to do at home.
Please note: Most assignments will receive comments and feedback, but not grades. If you would like grades and a final “report card” please contact the tutor for costs and information.
Required Materials
This is a research based course so no specific textbook is required. Please use your own resources, the public library or the internet. I will have some books and resources that the students can borrow as well.
Each student is required to have a binder (2 inch works well) and 8 dividers. They will receive handouts to place behind the dividers and completing the binder will form part of their in class work (eg: taking notes) and some homework.
