Welcome! This site contains information about an initiative to engage volunteers, like you, in the collection of food prices in Nigeria. Our goal is to test and deploy an innovative crowdsourcing approach (also called Citizen science) by leveraging mobile technology to collect data on agricultural food prices in different market segments of the commodity value chain. This project is a component of a broader initiative themed "Support to the AgRi-Economic analysis & modelling of agriculture & development policies impact for Africa (AREA)", which is led and funded by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (EC-JRC) and implemented in collaboration with Wageningen University and Research (WUR), the Netherlands. To learn more about the JRC projects, please visit the website - https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en
The broader purpose is to provide support for:
Improvement of information systems on agriculture, nutrition, and food security, especially in Africa
Policy and economic analysis to support the policy decision-making process locally and nationally
Scientific advice on selected topics concerning sustainable agriculture and food/nutrition security
These objectives include 16 specific actions, relative to: data & information acquisition, information dissemination, capacity building, development and testing new methodologies, macro & micro modelling, scientific networking, etc.
If you are a prospective or pre-qualified member of the volunteer crowd, please proceed to explore the relevant tabs for further instructions.
