Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi started in 1984, is an ISO 9001:2008 certified, NACC accredited with A grade, autonomous and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. All the seven UG programmes of our college are accredited by NBA under Tier I category. There are 12 PG programmes currently offered by the college. The college is known for its excellence in infrastructure, teaching and research activities. MSEC has collaborations with leading industrial, academic and research organizations like BHEL, CTS, IGCAR, CLRI and TIFAC- CORE etc. MSEC was ranked 15th in the ranking of Top Engineering Colleges of Eminence at National- level category in the CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2015 by Competition Success Review magazine, July 2015.

The Department of Biotechnology with world class research laboratories and well qualified faculty members produces young aspiring Biotechnologists ever since the commencement of B.Tech Biotechnology programme in 2002. Students graduated from here are meritorious as evident from their admission in IIT's , NIT's and Universities abroad every year post- securing good grades in competitive examinations like GATE, GRE, TOEFL etc. The department had shown a dynamic growth with the commencement of M. Tech programme under AICTE approval in the year 2011. The department also offers part- time and full-time PhD programmes from its Anna University, Chennai recognized research center since August 2012.

The Department of Biotechnology is approved Research Centre under Anna University, Chennai since August 2012 and offers both full-time and part-time PhD in Biotechnology. Though the full-time graduates are encouraged to have their own fellowships the Institution also provides fellowship of Rs. 10,000 per month as the student clears the fellowship eligibility exam conducted twice a year. Currently there are 7 full-time and 5 part-time research scholars in the department pursuing research in various areas.
