Removed Oil Filter using 74mm oil filter wrench and cleaned the filter cavity. ensure you get the rubber gasket out with the old filter. sometimes they stick to the housing and if not removed, the new filter will leak. It was very dirty and took a bit of scrubbing with a shop rag and WD-40.
Removed the drain bolt using 8mm hex key socket.
Ensure you have an oil drain pan that can hold over 4qt of oil.
Install the new filter by hand and after the gasket meets the housing (finger tight) then tighten the filter 3/4 turn further.
I used Mobil 1 - 15w50 but you can use what you feel is best for your location/environment etc.
The manul for the R850R calls for 3.9 US qts of oil. I first added 3.5qts and then ran the bike for a few minutes. Then checked the level (ensure the bike on a level surface and on center stand) and continued to add till I got to 3.9qts and also found the level to be perfect in the viewing glass.
