Film Production 12

Course Description

Course Outline for Semester

Teacher: Mr. Evans

Film and Video Production 12 gives students experience in the production and planning of a film. Students work independently and as part of a production team to explore roles in the film industry, develop skills required in production roles, develop a critical awareness of historical and cultural aspects of film, and work through the process of producing a film or video from script development to final edit.

Film and Video Production 12 will explore various facets of producing visual art on film. The course will focus on film history, the progression of the medium and the relevance and importance of film to our culture. An in-depth look at the creative process of film and video will make up a large portion of this class. We will try to answer why we, as an audience, react to certain films in the way that we do. We will also explore in-practice technologies and techniques utilized in the film industry today.

Since learning is an active process, students will take this knowledge and produce their own works from pre-production to final viewing. Students will be encouraged to be independent learners and to take risks in the creative process. Students cooperative and collaborative skills will be required frequently as students will be working in small groups of production teams.
