Langham Creek Speech and Debate will be participating in multiple tournaments that are located outside of both Houston and Texas. It is important to read and understand the information here if a student wishes to participate in these trips. This year the out of town trips we will be going to are as follows:
University of Texas at Austin (December 6-8)
Winston Churchill - San Antonio (January TBA)
Baylor University - Waco, TX (UIL) (2nd Semester)
University of Texas at Austin (UIL) (2nd Semester)
University of California at Berkeley (February 17 - 21)
Prairie View A&M - TFA State Championship (March 9 - 12)
University of Kentucky - Tournament of Champions (April TBA)
Louisville, Kentucky (NSDA Nationals - June TBA)
Please keep an eye out on this page for updated permission slips and information regarding these tournaments. Information will be published here as Mr. Beane receives it from the tournament host.
Student registration to these tournaments will be open to a select number of competitors. Details on how many and what qualifications one must have will be listed in their respective section below.
Members of the team that are chosen to travel must abide by these rules:
Team members of the opposite sex can at no time, be alone in a hotel room with another team member.
Students must be in their respective rooms by 11:00pm. No Exceptions.
Lights out by 11:30pm. This means GO TO SLEEP. You will need it, I promise. Yes, Mr. Beane WILL make rounds to make sure that these rules are followed.
Students are NEVER allowed to leave the hotel lodging we are staying at without Mr. Beane or a school administrator.
Students will be charged a fee to attend these tournaments. Out of town tournaments are NOT cheap and while the team will subsidize most of the cost, students will be required to pay an additional fee to help cover entry fees, hotel and travel costs.
Students will need to bring money for food while on the trip - that includes lunch and dinner.
Absolutely NO alcohol, drugs or intoxicants - you will not only be suspended from competing, but you will earn yourself a one way ticket home and SEVERE consequences at school.
Students must be ready to leave at the time posted - WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU. It is unfair to make your teammates late for their rounds, please be on time.
On December 6th-8th, a select number of students will be traveling to compete at the University of Texas Longhorn Classic in Austin, TX. Permission slips will be distributed both in class and online as soon as we have them.
