Lady Princes Volleyball “Sets” and Accomplishes Their Goals

By Ashleigh Brawley

This past season, the Princeville Lady Princes Volleyball Team set and accomplished many goals.

At the beginning of the season, the girls sat down and made a list of goals for their coming season. Some of the goals that were on that list were winning regionals, practicing hard, and working as a team.

One major accomplishment was winning the Lincoln Trail Conference. The Lady Princes won the conference with a record of ten wins and zero losses. The Princes found it very rewarding to be able to set a goal and achieve it.

The most recently accomplished goals were winning the Regional Champion Title. The girls were very determined during the days leading up to Regional Week. They completed drills, had various practices, and worked as hard as they could. All of the players had to keep in mind the big goal of winning Regionals.

To start Regionals week, the Princes played the Kewanee Wethersfield Geese. They started out strong and powered through to end the match in two sets, 25-15 and 25-15. After winning regionals, next was the championship game, the girls played Peru St. Bede and won in two sets, 25-19 and 25-21. The Princes played hard and smart and did their best.

Morgan Rakestraw, a senior varsity player, reflected on the game as “a chance for our team to unite and show how hard our team really worked that season.”

Lastly, several of the girls made first and second team all-conference. Those who made first were Ashleigh Brawley, Elle Schupbach, and Julianne Kelion. Those who made second-team were Lindsey Meisenhieimer, Brinlee Bauman, and Morissa Martin. Overall the Lady Princes volleyball was successful. The team played well together and set and accomplished their goals.
