Winter Weather Causes Disruptions In Princeville Schools

Stoller family builds a new friend!

Princeville CUSD #326 - The season's harsh winter has brought heavy snowfall, icy conditions, and bitter cold temperatures to the state. As a result, our schools have been forced to adapt and use alternative methods of learning.

The Illinois State Board of Education allows school districts with a waiver for Alternative Learning Days (or Remote Learning) to utilize five (5) days in case of emergencies. Princeville CUSD #326, a school district in Central Illinois, has already implemented Alternative Learning Days on multiple occasions this winter. These days included January 9th, 12th, 16th, 22nd, and 23rd.

In the event of future school closures, whether caused by severe weather conditions or any other unforeseen circumstances, a designated Emergency Day will be implemented.  While this policy provides flexibility for necessary closures, it does come with a consequence. Any missed school day will need to be made up at the end of the academic year. This ensures that students have a full and complete educational experience.

Currently, the final day of school for students is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2024, with an early dismissal time of 11:25 AM. However, if any Emergency Days are utilized throughout the remainder of the school year, this date may be subject to change.  Five Emergency Days are listed on our school calendar.  (May 23, 24, 28, 29 & 30)

The district remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the wider community.

For any further updates or adjustments to the school year schedule, parents, students, and staff are encouraged to stay tuned to district communications channels.
