Spring has begun and so have spring sports! Track, Softball, and Baseball all have had slow starts to their season due to the cold and rainy weather. Last week, April 8th-13th, all teams finally made it through the week without any cancellations or postponement.

Track had their first track meet Tuesday April 9th at Dee Mack high School. The track team was able to have a single track in the month of March and have their first April 9th, which is very late for their first meet. Coach Carruthers says it is the first time in his coaching career for their first track meet to happen this late in the season.

The Princeville Princes Softball team has the record of 4-7 overall and 1-5 conference. “Softball has had its ups and downs. Started off really hot and have cooled the last week or so. This year the weather has really thrown a wrench in consistency for the team. As we enter the final stretch I feel this team will find its rhythm again and finish the season strong”, Said Coach Holt. The Princes are having a slow start for their season but have plenty of time to come around. The ladies have a young team and that can come with ups and downs. They had a game Monday April 15th against Peoria Christian Chargers winning/losing with the score 8-2.

The Princeville Princes Baseball team is currently 4-10 and is 1-3 in conference play. Jake Williams and Logan Olshawsky are currently leading the team in offensive statistics. Parker Dickinson leads the team in doubles, Hunter Johnson in triples, and Noah Geiger has the teams only homerun. Parker Dickinson is leading the team in thrown strikeouts with 26 in 17 2/3 innings. From Coach Williams he says, “We recently have had some offensive and defensive struggles. But I am optimistic that we can overcome those issues and have a strong second half to the season.”
