Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle?

Dear Students, Teachers, Parents, and Friends,

Thank you for your participation in the Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle? geography game over the past eight years!  I have been encouraged by the many people of all ages who want to learn more about the geography, history, and interesting attractions of our state.  Sadly, since I will be ending my time as First Lady this month, the game will be officially retired.  I am very grateful to each and every one of you who has participated in the game.

I am extremely grateful to the classroom teachers who teach exciting lessons about Wisconsin every single day and who make learning so lively and fun for students, and I greatly thank all the fourth through eighth grade teachers who have supported and promoted Where in Wisconsin is Jessica Doyle?. At school visits, it has been exciting to see the creative ways the game has been used and even displayed on posters, SMART Board presentations, and activity sheets. I will miss being at your schools and discussing Wisconsin geography, history, and fun facts with you!

I am very grateful to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism who made this game possible. I encourage you to continue to support its work and our Wisconsin businesses. They supplied wonderful prizes and motivated many students to learn.  Finally, I thank all the bright and enthusiastic students who tackled the clues, researched the answers, and were responsible for the 30,000 entries each year.  You are awesome!

All the students who played the game were winners, but I know only a few could enjoy the weekly winner prizes each year. I was thrilled to meet so many weekly winners and their families and celebrate with them.

In the weeks and months ahead, I hope students continue to learn about Wisconsin by using previous clues found at http://jessicadoyle.wisconsin.gov/wheresjessica/game_archive.asp?locid=136. I know teachers will continue to promote state pride and culture, and I encourage them to start their own Where in Wisconsin? games.  Think of the possibilities!

Thanks again, and I wish you all the best for the holiday season and the new year. On Wisconsin!

Sincerely,

Jessica Doyle
