My Habits of Mind
Successful people share certain habits. Students learned how developing these habits is essential to being successful in their lives. They learned about 9 of the habits and how to apply them in their lives. They wrote their ideas and created an e-book to share our reflections.

As the 5th graders grow as writers, they need to be sure they are using commas correctly. They came up with a familiar jingle to make learning about one of the 8 rules fun.

Coming to America
Fifth graders learned about Native Americans, Explorers, Colonists, Pioneers, and Immigrants in the "Coming to America" unit. They wrote an essay about each .The unit culminated with an Immigration Day where students dressed as an actual immigrant to the U.S. and experienced what life was like in 1910 as an immigrant to the United States.

I’m An Author!
Students wrote and illustrated a creative story, which will was bound into a book. Stories were entered in the Mary Jo Nettesheim Delta Kappa Gamma writing contest.

Game on, Genres!
Students learned about different genres. Then, they collaborated in small groups classifying books into the various genres. They completed the fun Jamboards below in small groups!

Students created a project of their choice to persuade people to visit or live in the state of their choice.

How can I share my learning as I explore the Earth, Sun, Moon, and stars using observations of shadows and changing patterns in the sky as well as the planets of our Solar System and begin to consider what might lie beyond?

To be an educated U.S. citizen, we need to understand our U.S. Government. By creating a project, students can inform their classmates about a branch of U.S. Government, so they are an educated U.S. citizen.
