This Privacy Policy explains what information the Math IQ mobile application ("Math IQ", "the app", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. By using Math IQ you agree to this policy.
Math IQ has no user accounts - you do not register, and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any government ID. We operate no servers that store your data.
1 - Information We Collect
1.1 What we do not collect
Math IQ does not collect, and never asks for: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, location, microphone or camera. There is no login, no cloud sync, and no online leaderboard. Your scores are never uploaded to us.
1.2 Stored only on your device
The following are stored locally on your device (a Room database and Android DataStore inside the app's private storage) and are not transmitted to us:
Player profiles - the app supports several local profiles (for example, family members sharing one phone). A profile is only a display name you type in (up to 20 characters) plus an emoji avatar picked from a fixed list - no photo upload; it is not linked to any account and never leaves the device.
Quiz history - score, number of questions, level, mode, and duration of each quiz you finish, kept per profile.
Mistakes Box - questions you got wrong, saved so you can revise them.
Daily streak, achievements and daily-challenge progress.
Settings - level, custom question count and penalty, theme, language, and your reminder switches.
Daily quota counters - the free version allows 3 scored quizzes per day plus up to 2 bonus quizzes earned by choosing to watch a rewarded ad (section 1.4). The counter that tracks this is stored on your device only.
Home-screen widgets read the same local data to show your streak and pending revision; nothing is sent anywhere.
You can delete this data inside the app: Profiles -> delete a profile removes that profile together with its history, Mistakes Box and badges; Mistakes Box -> Clear all empties the revision list. Clearing the app's storage in Android Settings (Settings -> Apps -> Math IQ -> Storage -> Clear data) or uninstalling the app removes everything.
1.3 Export and sharing (only when you choose)
CSV export - the History screen can export your quiz history as a CSV file. Android's file picker opens and you choose where to save it; the app never uploads the file and has no storage permission of its own.
Share a score or streak - the result screen and streak milestones offer a "Share" button that opens Android's standard share sheet with a short text (or a score-card image) and a link to the app on Google Play. Nothing is shared unless you tap it, and it goes only to the app you pick.
1.4 Advertising (free version)
The free version of Math IQ shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may access your device's Advertising ID and standard device / app-interaction data for ad selection, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. Up to five ad formats are used:
Banner - a strip at the bottom of some list screens;
Interstitial - a full-screen ad shown occasionally after you finish a quiz, at a limited cadence;
Rewarded video - shown only when you choose to watch one to unlock a bonus quiz after your 3 free quizzes for the day are used (up to 2 bonus quizzes per day);
Rewarded interstitial - a full-screen rewarded ad that may be offered occasionally on app launch, always preceded by a screen you can dismiss;
Native - an ad card placed inside the History list.
Ads are removed for Primus Plus subscribers (section 1.6). The app does not use your quiz results to target ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may also collect diagnostics (for example crash and performance signals) and app-interaction data for analytics, ad delivery, and fraud prevention; these appear in the Google Play Data safety section as "Diagnostics" and "App interactions" and are not tied to your name or account.
1.5 Consent (EEA / UK / Switzerland)
Where required (the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before any ad is requested; no ad is loaded until the consent flow completes. You may change or withdraw your choice at any time via Settings -> Ad privacy options inside the app (this row is shown only in regions where it applies).
1.6 Primus Plus and tips (Google Play Billing)
Primus Plus is an optional subscription (monthly or yearly) that removes ads and lifts the daily quiz limit. The app also offers an optional tip jar (three one-time tip amounts) if you simply wish to support development. All purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google - we do not receive or store your card or payment details; the app only learns whether a purchase or subscription is active so it can unlock the corresponding features.
1.7 Crash reports (optional)
If the app crashes, a notification appears with Send and Discard. Nothing is sent unless you tap Send. If you do, your own email app opens with a message addressed to founder@primuscreative.com containing a text attachment with: a report ID, the app name and version, the package name, the Android version, your device brand and model, the crash stack trace, device configuration, and the app-start and crash timestamps. It contains no scores, profiles, settings, device logs or screen contents. There is no automatic crash upload.
1.8 Notifications
The app may show these local notifications; each is generated on your device with no server involved:
Daily streak reminder - on by default; a background job checks a few times a day whether you have played today and, if not, reminds you. Switch it off in Settings.
Mistakes Box reminder - off by default; when you turn it on, the app reminds you (never during night hours) if there are questions waiting to be revised.
App update available - see section 1.9.
Crash report - see section 1.7.
On Android 13 and later these require the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission. Decline it and the app still works fully; you simply get no reminders.
1.9 App updates and other Primus apps
Math IQ uses the Google Play In-App Update library to check, about once a day, whether a newer version is available on Google Play, and may show a notification when one is. This check goes to Google Play and carries no personal data beyond what any Play request contains.
The app can also detect whether other Primus Creative Hub apps are installed on your device (a fixed list of our own package names declared to Android) so that its "more apps" cards can open them instead of advertising them. This check happens on your device only; the result is never sent to us.
1.10 Android backup
If you have Android's own backup (or device-to-device transfer) enabled, your profiles, quiz history, Mistakes Box, streak, achievements and settings are included in that backup and are stored by Google under your own Google account - not by us. This is so your progress survives a change of phone. You can turn off Android backup in your phone's Settings. Ad-consent records are deliberately excluded from the backup, so a restore onto another device or in another region never carries a stale consent choice.
2 - Permissions
Math IQ declares these Android permissions:
INTERNET - ads in the free version, Google Play Billing, and the daily Play update check.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - checks for a connection before loading an ad.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) - the reminders and update notification in section 1.8. Optional: decline it and the app works fully.
Google libraries add a few more automatically, and those also appear in your phone's App info: AD_ID and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_* (AdMob - Advertising ID, section 1.4), BILLING (Play purchases, section 1.6), and FOREGROUND_SERVICE / WAKE_LOCK (AndroidX WorkManager, for the reminders). None of these is a dangerous permission.
Math IQ does not request location, microphone, camera, contacts, calendar, SMS, or storage permissions. The CSV export uses Android's file picker, which is why no storage permission is needed.
3 - How We Use Information
We use the information above only to: run quizzes and keep your local history, statistics, Mistakes Box, streak and achievements; remember your settings and profiles; send the local reminders you enable; show ads (free version) and count your daily quota; and process the optional subscription or tip. We do not build profiles of you and we sell nothing about you.
4 - Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with the service providers below, strictly to provide the corresponding feature:

No other data leaves your device.
5 - Your Rights & Choices
Access / erase on-device data: delete a profile in Profiles, clear the Mistakes Box, clear the app's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
Export: save your quiz history as a CSV file from the History screen.
Notifications: turn each reminder off in Settings, or deny the notification permission.
Personalised ads: reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings -> Privacy -> Ads; change your consent choice via Settings -> Ad privacy options (EEA / UK / Switzerland).
Remove ads entirely: subscribe to Primus Plus.
Crash reports: simply tap Discard; nothing is sent without your action.
GDPR / Malaysia PDPA rights: because we hold no account and store your data on your own device, you control it directly; for anything else, contact us.
6 - Data Retention
On-device data remains until you delete it in the app, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. CSV files you export live wherever you saved them and are yours to keep or delete. If Android backup is enabled, the backup copy is retained by Google under your Google account according to Android's backup rules. Third-party services (AdMob, Google Play) retain data according to their own policies. We keep crash reports you email us only as long as needed to fix the problem.
7 - Security
All network communication (ads, billing, update checks) uses HTTPS. On-device data is protected by the Android application sandbox. We operate no servers that store your personal data, and we maintain no account database.
8 - Children's Privacy
Math IQ is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. Although it is a mathematics quiz, it is published for a general (13+) audience, shows standard AdMob ads, and is not part of Google Play's Designed for Families programme. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; the only "personal" input the app takes is a profile display name that stays on the device.
9 - International Transfers
The Google services listed above may process requests on servers located outside your country. By using the relevant feature (ads, purchases, update checks), you understand that such data may be processed internationally.
10 - Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
