Our vision at Primrose Hill Primary School is to provide a happy, safe, caring and stimulating environment in which the children are engaged, motivated to learn and experience the joy of a ‘broad and balanced curriculum’ in an environment where it is safe to experiment and overcome setbacks. We aim for our pupils to acquire the skills and knowledge which will prepare them for life-long learning and which develop an understanding of how they can positively contribute to their community and society. Partnerships between children, staff, parents and our community contribute to the ‘Together we can make a Difference’ ethos which underpins the principles and practices at Primrose Hill.
Our Curriculum
We have designed our curriculum with the following in mind:
How children learn and remember – we recognise that progress means knowing more and remembering more and so we want our children to know more and remember more as a result of their time with us at Primrose Hill
What our children need to succeed in life – we want our learners to have the ‘cultural capital’ they need to make aspirational choices and experience success beyond their time at Primrose Hill.
The context of our school and the life experiences of our children outside of school - we want our children to have a ‘view of the world’ outside their local community whilst maintaining a sense of belonging, appreciation and understanding of where they are from.
We are proud to be a founding school in the Owlcotes Multi Academy Trust. As part of this trust, our children and staff benefit from collaboration, co-operation and shared opportunities.

Our Outdoor Areas
(Playgrounds, MUGA, Orchard, Trim Trail, Pond, Quiet Areas, Amphitheatre, Wildlife Garden)
Our outdoor areas provide excellent opportunities for childrne to learn outside their classroom. Our curriculum is designed to take full use of these areas and children spend time outdoors as part of their curriculum learning as well as at playtimes and lunchtimes.
We are fortunate to have a very large school field, with our orchard, wildlife garden and multi use games area (MUGA). PE sessions take place outdoors, as much as possible, and the trim trail and MUGA means children can take part in games and PE whatever the weather!
Playgrounds have activities and equipment for childrne to use in their play as well as quiet areas which are designed for socialisation, chatting with friends and playing table top games.
School Uniform
Our school uniform is designed to be practical for a child's busy day in school. Grey trousers, shorts or skirt; white polo top or shirt and a navy blue jumper. Jumpers with the school logo can be purchased via the school office, however this is not a requirement. All items of our uniform can be purchased at supermarkets or high street shops.
Children are required to wear PE kit for PE lessons. On their PE day, children come to school in their PE kit. Children wear plain navy blue shorts or joggers and a white t shirt. A plain blue sweatshirt or hoodie is needed for outdoor PE - which happens all year round.
School shoes should be appropriate for playing outside and trainers are needed for PE.
Structure of the day
Children arrive at school and come into their playground, where teachers and staff meet them. Lessons start after registration and childrne have a mid morning playtime. Children play out at lunchtime and children in KS1 have a mid afternoon playtime. Children in reception have free-flowing access to their own outdoor areas and do not follow the same timetable as the children in older year groups.
Lunchtime arrangements
Our school meals are cooked on site by our school cook, provided by Leeds Catering Agency. School meals are free for children in reception, year 1 and year 2. The menus are carefully designed by Leeds catering Agency team to ensure a balance of food groups across each week, the menus run on a three week cycle. Children having a school meal have four choices each day; a meat or fish dish, a vegetarian dish, a jacket potato with various fillings or a sandwich. Children also have a choice of desert which always includes fruit and yoghurt as well as the desert of the day. School meals are served from the servery in our dining room.
Children are also welcome to bring a packed lunch. These are eaten in the main school hall.
Menus can be found on the parents section of the school website.
