In History we have been finishing off our 'Significant People in History' topic. After learning about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole we worked together in groups to sort statements about the two nurses e.g. which nurse used herbal remedies? Which nurse treated soldiers on the front line? Which nurse was called 'the lady with the lamp'. We thought carefully about the similarities and differences between the two nurses and had lots of great discussions.
In Literacy we received a letter from the White Rose Maths Education asking for our help. They have realised that Tiny the turtle is always making mistakes with his maths work and they asked us to help. We came up with ideas as a class e.g. ask a teacher for help, use counting resources, go on Mathletics and Numbots. We then worked incredibly hard to write a letter back. We produced some fantastic pieces of writing.
In PE this half term the overarching theme is 'Cooperation'. Today we enjoyed participating in team games, boys vs girls. Both groups received house points for working collaboratively. Our final game was called 'Hoop Circle' which involved passing a hoop around a circle without letting go of our friends hands. Children worked well as a team to complete this challenge!
