In Computing we have been learning how to log on to a computer and how to use some of the tools on the Paint programme. We are learning how to type our name and short sentences.
Our topic in History this half term is 'Toys'. In class we have been exploring new and old toys. We have been thinking carefully about what the toys are made from, who would play with the toys (ages and gender) and what makes them fun.
We loved looking at toys from the past. Our favourites were flick books, a yo-yo and spinning tops.
This week we visited the Abbey House Toy Museum and Kirkstall Abbey. We participated in a workshop where we learnt about a range of toys from the past then we got to play with them! Spinning tops, acrobats, slinkies and Jacob's ladder were some firm favourites!
After the workshop we spent time exploring the museum then we sat down together for lunch. After lunch we went for a walk around Kirkstall Abbey. A fun day was had by all!
In Music this half term we have been learning how to sing and perform a song called 'Hey You'. We have learnt how to sing and rap the different verses in the piece of music and have used instruments alongside our singing. The Glockenspiels are a particular favourite in Y1F but the egg shakers and claves were enjoyable too!
Look at our Piet Mondrian style pieces of art that we have done this half term, on the computers! Using the Paint programme on the computer is something we have worked hard on this half term and the results speak for themselves!
