The Focus for Reading
Our 3rd grade reading program consists of many components: We use a mixture of Whole Group, Small Group, and independent reading. We use Literature Studies, Literature Circles, Into Reading basal readers, Scholastic News, Accelerated Reader, and at home reading assignments. These components are all valuable tools to help us develop successful reading strategies, improve vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and to help kids make deeper connections to their text.
Welcome to THIRD GRADE!
READING: New AR Goals have been set and students are ready to rock and roll...or read and test! We are doing "Class Pets" as our fourth quarter incentive. Students will choose an eraser pet to keep in class and then as they read and take AR tests, they will earn treats for their pet. They may earn them a food, a drink, a toy, a fun background, or even a friend!
Remember...students may read anything that they want to count for their agenda minutes, BUT may only read and TEST on books in their range. Renaissance offers some interesting articles to read for fun, but the quiz that goes along with it are NOT eligible to earn points, and actually will not count towards their goal on an administrative level. ONLY BOOKS!
GRAMMAR:

WRITING: We will be prepping for the AASA Writing test.
SPELLING: Review words and suffixes -er, -ly, and -ful
