PSL Shorts System
The PSL Shorts System is how we track your athlete's skill development. Instead of levels or grades, we use different colored shorts (like martial arts belts) to represent where each player is in their training. Athletes earn new colors by mastering real skills, not just by showing up.
Where It Starts:
Every athlete begins in the Pre-Green Tier. This is the learning phase where we focus on 9 core skills. Defensive stance, ball control, communication, and spacing just to name a few. Your athlete must consistently demonstrate they’ve learned these skills and test out before they earn their first official color; Green Shorts.
The Four Phases of the PSL System
Green Shorts = The Foundation: Players build control, footwork, and learn how to move with purpose.
Yellow Shorts = Game Speed: Athletes apply skills at game pace, work under pressure, and make faster decisions.
Red Shorts = Game IQ & Leadership: Players react, read defenses, and communicate at a high level.
Black Shorts = Full Control + Mentorship: Athletes lead games, mentor teammates, and show full command of the court.
How Athletes Move Up
Athletes move up only by proving they’ve mastered the skills of their current phase, not based on time, age, or attendance. Every promotion is earned by doing the work and showing it in live play. There are no shortcuts.
How You’ll Stay Informed
We track your athlete’s progress using Studio Pro, where you can log in to see what they’re working on. A Coach will also send personal notes after certain sessions so you know what your athlete is improving on and what comes next.
We're In This Together
We’re not just here to run drills. PSL is about being part of your athlete’s journey long-term, through setbacks, growth, and breakthroughs. We’re here to build consistency, trust, and lifelong friendships through the game of Basketball.
